This week I’m continuing with my new 5-Point Friday series & I think I’ll keep it up as long as I still enjoy it. So far, I’m having a lot of fun with it :))
Also, I did a ton of extra homework this week so that I could just play all weekend! I am going shopping with some girls from work on Saturday, and then maybe meeting up with Dr. Steph (the amazing PT I currently observe) on Sunday. Can’t wait!
New book —
New read — Core Performance by Mark Verstegen …. I'm pretty much at the starting line to the world of strength & conditioning. One day I want to be an open-minded PT who not only knows about rehab & therapy, but also the strength & conditioning side. …. The author, Mark Verstegen, created @team_exos (the best sports performance biz/team ever). … Just read the foreword & I'm hooked 🌱 #startbeforeyoureready #openmindedness #newreads #somuchtolearn #excitedforthefuture #sportsperfomancept #futurept
Physical therapy fun fact —
First of all, I had no idea that physical therapists treat people after concussions.
Second of all, concussions affect men and women differently! I just read this article from ScientificAmerican.com. It turns out that females have, “higher incidence of concussions, different and more severe symptoms, and are often slower to recover from the injury.”
I don’t know a lot about concussions or brain injuries, but this article sparked my interest. Who knew that our bodies handled the same exact injury in different ways with different results?!
This led to me adding like 5 more articles on concussions to my reading list.
I don’t usually have a lot of time to just read every interesting-looking article I come across online, so I just save it to my reading list, and come back to it on the weekend or whenever I get a chance.

Mini goal I set (& met!) —
Last weekend I took a workshop and an exam to get certified to teach group fitness classes. (SO excited about this & I’ve been wanting to lead group fitness for forever!)
The instructor said we would get our results in a couple weeks, and I set a mini goal for myself to look for an open instructor position & get an interview, AND I did!
I actually have the interview today on my lunch break so I’ll have to let you guys know how it goes. It definitely reinforces the idea in my head that if I set a goal for myself and give myself a deadline, then I am more likely to make it happen!
Quote I’m reflecting on —
Successful people, like successful businesses, live with these questions: “How can I improve the quality of my performance? How can I do better?” Absolute perfection in all human undertakings from building missiles to rearing children is unattainable. This means there is endless room for improvement. Successful people know this, and they are always searching for a better way. (Note: The successful person doesn’t ask, “Can I do it better?” He knows he can. So he phrases the question: “How can I do it better?”)
